Abstract
Calcium (II) triflate was found to be an effective Lewis acid catalyst for the inverse electron-demand 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of nitrones and vinyl ethers. The reaction has been optimized for percent conversion of the reactants to products and the exo to endo product ratio. Exploration of substrate scope is currently underway, with differentially-substituted isoxazolidines produced in fair to good yields with modest diastereoselectivity.
