Abstract

This mini-intimate ethnography seeks to expand our understanding of immigration’s violence by demonstrating how this violence begins long before the physical migration and continues long afterward. It explores the violence that emerges for migrants and their family members alike during 1) the before, for the time leading up to the migrating period, 2) the during, for the physical migration, and 3) the after, for the immediate and long-term aftermaths of migrating to provide a more holistic picture of what it means to be a migrant and the child of a migrant.
