Abstract

When we discuss “Human Resources Management” what we really mean to discuss is the way that the people and employees are treated and accounted for in an organizational setting. There are many different approaches that organizations can have to human resources management, and nonprofit organizations in particular often have different degrees of management ranging from a staff member managing the whole program to having an external person handle singular processes like recruiting, onboarding, and personnel investigations. But how does a nonprofit’s handling of human resources management concerns affect the wellbeing of employees in an organization? And do employers have the trust of their employees to handle a workplace complaint when there might be varying levels of human resources management strategy in place? This research investigated some of the differences in employee perceptions of human resources management based on organizational size, while also exploring how variables like employee trust, well-being, and satisfaction are affected under different organizational human resources management conditions, especially as they pertain to employees reporting concerns/complaints.
