Reconciliation: An Examination of (Hi)stories Past and Present

Jocelyn Grzeszczak

Abstract

I’ve been thinking a lot, recently, about what it means to make choices in this world rather than have them. As a white person living in America, I have choices. In this country, which was largely built by people of color but fundamentally designed for white people (a great American irony), choice has always been a luxury promised to many but afforded to few. When I remain silent, it is a choice. When I raise my voice in protest, that is also a choice. I can choose.
