Abstract
Over the years, the smart home has gone from something used in movies to portray technological advances of the future to something easily achievable. Rapidly, new smart home devices are being made and sold for individuals to add to their homes, allowing everyone to be able to have a smart home. These devices include Google Homes, Amazon Echos, programmable vacuums, smart lights, and smart televisions. Homes that contain these devices allow an individual to do things like turn off all the lights in house, set a morning alarm for the next day, or search the internet for the answer to a question with just a simple voice command. Further, these devices can allow someone to adjust the temperature or lock the door at just a push of a button, even when they are not at home. By using linking sensors, specialized features, and the connection of the Internet of Things (IoT), smart home technology can be remotely monitored, controlled, or accessed.
