FYS Endeavor - 2021-2022
Abstract
Attention to the self can often be forgotten in relationships as an individual seeks to please those around them. However the relationship with oneself must be properly fostered before relationships with others can fully flourish. This tenet holds true across time and disciplines from the teachings of both eastern and western philosophers such as Confucius, Aristotle, and Montaigne, to modern day self-help books. The examination of these foundational philosophical texts through the lens of modern feminism and self-love, allow for a greater depth of understanding the importance of self-love in building strong relationships and a more fulfilling life.
