Abstract
Á la recherche du temps perdu is a complex multi faceted novel. It spans sixteen volumes and attempts to deal with a panoply of themes and emotions, which are examined separately and finally combined to show the underlying relationship and basic unity between seemingly isolated elements. Childhood, memory, time, love, music , art, sleep, society, the historic France are major preoccupations of the narrator and occupy a major position in the book.
