Comments
This thesis is a study of John Steinbeck and his treatment of various types of people in modern civilization ard their reactions to this civilization. It is intended to show Steinbeck' s personal hatred for the stilted values or the middle class and his love and admiration for the more natural codes of the lower classes.
It is also intended to show where these characters either fail or succeed in their relations with the world outside of their own smaller groups.
