Abstract

It is the desire of the writer to create in you a growing interest in the part of the waters through and around Virginia played in her sea going life. Her home ports, shipping, builders, owners, names of vessels, cargoes, distant ports, dangers, and westward eyes.

Most of the material has come from the Virginia Gazettes of 1736 through 1766. The bibliography acknowledges the remainder.
