The importance of this year's topic, "Human Rights Law," cannot be understated. In our often turbulent times, it is imperative that human rights law not be pushed from the forefront; a task not lost on this year's exceptional Allen Chair professors. Thomas M. Franck is the Murry and Ida Becker Professor of Law at the New York University Law School Center for International Studies. Dr. Diego Garcia-Saydn is the Director of the United Nations Office of Human Rights in El Salvador and on leave from his position as Executive Director of the Andean Commission of Jurists. Harold Hongju Koh is the Gerald C. and Bernice Latrobe Smith Professor of International Law at the Yale Law School. Anne-Marie Slaughter is a Professor of Law at the Harvard Law School. Daniel T. Murphy, who selected this year's topic and professors, is a Professor of Law at the T.C. Williams School of Law.
